Rent a car and explore beautiful Savai'i!For your convenience, there is a car rental operator located on-site - Cruising Savai'i Rentals - should you wish to book a vehicle during your stay and explore the 'big island' at your own pace. A Samoan Driver Licence is required and this can be arranged with front desk staff - 21 tala per license valid for 1 month.
Driving is a pleasure in Savai'i; the roads are quiet and drivers are generally very courteous and considerate. Pedestrians, cyclists and animals share the road with vehicles so drive carefully, particularly after dark, and do not exceed speed limits. Most villages have an evening curfew which lasts around 30 minutes - you will see the village men lining the road at this time and may hear a conch or horn blown to mark the start and finish of curfew. Slow right down and be prepared to stop and wait for the curfew to end if requested. Savai'i roads have limited signage so you will need a tourist map which you can get from Reception. Speed limits are 25mph (40kph) in town and 35mph (55kmph) between villages. Driving is on the left hand side of the road. A bond is usually required - cash OR credit or debit card as guarantee refundable upon return of the vehicle in the same condition. Vehicles
